Physical Therapy Supervisor jobs in Louisiana
Physical Therapy Supervisor supervises the staff of the physical therapy division and/or clinic. Assesses physical therapy programs to evaluate the quality of patient care. Being a Physical Therapy Supervisor provides guidance to and monitors the performance of physical therapy staff. Ensures physical therapy staff follows regulatory compliance requirements and standard procedures. Additionally, Physical Therapy Supervisor may perform training demonstrations for physical therapists and assistants. May maintain a small caseload of patients. Requires a doctorate degree in physical therapy. Requires Certified Physical Therapist (CPT). Requires Licensed Physical Therapist (LPT). Typically reports to a manager. The Physical Therapy Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Physical Therapy Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist assigned therapist with maintaining patient flow in the gym including detailed exercise instruction and observation with personalized care and attention to detail
- Assist therapist in application of modalities ranging from moist heat, ice, electrical stimulation, traction, ultrasounds at the discretion of the therapist
- Maintaining open lines of communication between the therapist and patient to ensure all needs are met and treatment is aimed at patient’s goals
- Notify therapist of any concerns of the patient; when the patient is in need of therapist attention/care
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the clinic with rotation of daily and weekly cleaning duties (see separate list)
- Perform opening/closing duties of the clinic to begin or close out the day
- Assist in maintaining patient safety of the clinic by checking and maintaining temperatures of the hydrocollator, pool chemicals and temperature, etc
- Maintain appearance of gym, treatment rooms, overall clinic
- Updating of flow sheets during and following patient visits, preparing home exercise programs
