Pharmacy Technician jobs in Maryland
Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. 4 years of experience as a pharmacy technician
Experience working in a retail pharmacy a must
Experience assisting patients on phone and in person
Experience processing refills
Strong computer skills and ability to verify insurance
Strong customer service skills
Comfortable working in a very fast paced environment
Certified in the state of Maryland as a pharmacy Technician
If not certified in the state of Maryland must be nationally certified and willing to become certified
DUTIES:
The Pharmacy Technicians duties include but are not limited to the following:
Greet patients in person and over the phone in a very high volume setting
Process prescriptions
Verify insurance
Document patient information in computer system
