Pharmacist Manager manages a group of pharmacists who, under the direction of a physician, compound and dispense prescribed drugs in a retail or healthcare facility environment. Oversees daily pharmacy operations. Being a Pharmacist Manager monitors and audits drug inventory, ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines and reporting. Requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a Pharm.D. Additionally, Pharmacist Manager requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Pharmacist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Pharmacist Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Responsibilities
- Compound and dispense prescribed medications
- Advise physicians/other practitioners on the interactions and side effects of medications
- Counsel patients regarding medication administration, side effects, interactions, and other pertinent information
- Ensure clinical duties/MTMs/CMRs are completed efficiently and effectively
- Interact and engage with patients
- Place orders for inventory with appropriate wholesale sources
- Create work schedules for pharmacy staff
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop a pharmacy team that reflects commitment to patient well-being and the success of the business.
- Oversee the pharmacy with concern for regulatory requirements, inventory control, safety, and financial profitability.
Qualifications
- Active NC Pharmacist License
- Strong team-building and communication skills
- Active Pharmacist Immunizer status
- Patient-centered approach to care
- Positive and growth mindset
- MTM and CMR experience (preferred)
- At least 2 years of recent experience in community pharmacy setting (preferred)
- Business and management experience (preferred)
