PC Support Manager manages a team that provides personal computer deployment and support, including setup, installation, repairs, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting. Maintains the necessary hardware and software inventory and oversees the administration of required licenses. Being a PC Support Manager analyzes PC resource requirements and evaluates available vendors, products, and services that will meet the organization's needs. Implements training programs and develops documentation to support end-users. Additionally, PC Support Manager possesses experience in a LAN environment, a strong understanding of PC operating systems, security tools, and extensive knowledge of all commonly used PC software and products. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The PC Support Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a PC Support Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Nature of Work:

    As a PC Support Technician, you would respond to requests via phone, email, and in person to support departments across the City of Rochester with their IT needs. This would include work with installs, supports, troubleshoots, and maintaining IT resources in the assigned areas, software, and hardware. This role is responsible for evaluating and resolving requests, documenting requests with relevant information, and if needed escalate requests to other members of the Information Technology team.

    Pay:

    The 2024 starting wage is $29.39 per hour with a maximum pay rate of $37.56 based on successful performance and time in the role.

    Work Location:

    Due to the nature of the work the PC Support Technician is a 100% on-site role, and may include visiting different city locations throughout the day.

    Work Schedule:

    This role is regularly scheduled to work Monday through Thursday until 8 PM to support general operations at the City of Rochester. The individual in this role can do this either by working eight hours a day Monday through Friday, or working ten hours Monday through Thursday.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Install and maintain personal computer systems and related equipment and application and operating system software:

    • Maintain, configure, install, troubleshoot, and upgrade personal computer hardware and related equipment.
    • Install software such as client applications, operating systems, etc.
    • Replace when necessary, operating system and personal computer and related equipment.

    Serve as troubleshooter for personal computer hardware and software problems:

    • Investigate and resolve problems with hardware and related equipment including printers, scanners and/or software.
    • Provide high quality customer service assistance and provide expert and creative solutions to problems.
    • Follow up on problems and ensure that they are resolved in a timely manner to customer satisfaction.
    • Create and maintain procedural documentation and assist in end-user provided training.

    Maintain inventory of computer hardware and software.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

    An Associate's degree from an accredited computer science, computer technology, computer networking, computer/management information systems program or closely related field.

    Experience

    Three (3) years of experience with Information Technology tasks such as installing and maintaining hardware and software and providing technical support for operating systems and various software applications such as Microsoft Office.
