We are seeking a Food Safety Specialist to work with current customer school districts on the border of Virginia and Maryland. You will work in school kitchens delivering a School Food Service Safety and Kitchen Sanitation Program.

This is an independent, daily "road-warrior" position and home-based around school schedules. Work hours are Monday through Friday starting around 7am (when school cafeterias open) ending between 2 and 4pm, depending on the day’s requirements. Clients are visited on a route schedule every month. Weekends and evenings are off.

Responsibilities

Help keep kids safe by:

• Delivering sanitation materials to school cafeterias
• Training cafeteria workers in the proper use of chemicals
• Auditing school kitchens for health and safety violations and delivering corrective training
• Inventory management: the Specialist will be responsible for a warehouse located in Chantilly, VA; the schools in the Specialist’s route; and their work van
• Schedule management: Specialists are responsible for managing their own schedule
• Troubleshoot dish machine detergent dispensers

Minimum Qualifications

• An experienced, detail-oriented service professional
• Willingness to deliver group trainings, coaching and educating to small and large groups in a pleasant manner. It’s fun!
• Willingness to obtain certification as a Servsafe Instructor after thorough training and coaching
• An independent professional with a positive and upbeat attitude.
• Desire to be part of a growing organization -- strong, stable growth.
• Comfort with and willingness to learn about light equipment troubleshooting and installation (i.e., dish machines and dish machine detergent dispensers)
• Excellent driver for use in company vans on school properties.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
• Pass a background check
• Ability to give three job references

Additional Qualifications

• Food Service management experience
• HACCP knowledge
• Food science background
• Spanish language skills
• Experience with food safety auditing and/or training
• Teaching background

Each Specialist follows a nationally-designed food safety audit and education program along with materials and supplies as part of a routine visit. This is a teaching/problem solving and customer service position. No sales involved.
