Additionally, Patent Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patent Attorney work is closely managed.   • The Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced full-time Prosecutor with trial experience. The Assistant Commonwealth Attorney will be responsible for all aspects of the prosecution of felony cases in Jefferson Circuit Court. Duties include, but are not limited to, representing the Commonwealth at daily court dockets, working with police officers to evaluate evidence and prepare cases for trial, advising crime victims on the status of their cases, and ensuring their rights are being protected. Applicants should be able to analyze and organize facts, evidence, and identify the determinative aspects of cases and present them in a clear and logical order. The candidate must establish and maintain working relationships with employees, court officials, attorneys, and the public. Additionally, the applicant should have jury trial experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Review files, including police reports and other related materials and evidence, to prepare court hearings.
    • Appear in Court for arraignments, pre-trial conferences, jury trials, revocation hearings, etc.
    • Conduct jury trials and non-jury trials.
    • Review and respond to correspondence from victims and/or defense attorneys.
    • Meet with victims and explain court procedures prior to Court hearings and trials.
    • Review cases submitted by law enforcement officers and make the determination as to whether to prosecute.
    • Respond to questions from law enforcement officers.
    • Research and respond to motions, and argue motions before the court.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Employees of the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney shall reside in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a condition of employment. Any non-resident shall be required to make a good faith effort to move into the Commonwealth of Kentucky within sixty (60) days of their date of hire.
