Paramedic provides emergency advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Conducts patient assessment to determine the extent of an illness or injury and to establish and prioritize medical procedures to follow. Being a Paramedic performs life support procedures or administers oxygen. Dispenses antiseptic solution to prevent infection, starts and administers intravenous fluids. Additionally, Paramedic performs other emergency medical procedures needed to stabilize patient during transport. Provides an update on patient's condition and status of treatments when transferring to other medical personnel. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in an accredited Paramedic program. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The Paramedic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Summary:
Assesses, develops and implements individualized, realistic plans of care for pre-hospital patients based on identified needs, existing patient data, Medic knowledge, use of standard orders/protocols from the EMS Medical Director, and standards of care.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED required, with successful completion of an accredited Paramedic program.
Experience:
Previous EMS experience preferred
Licenses/Certificates:
Current IDHS EMT-P Certification, Must have current BLS, ACLS & PALS upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire. Current and valid drivers license. Proof of NIMS certification
