Paralegal assists and supports attorneys with research and document preparation for court proceedings and legal transactions. Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience.     As a Paralegal for CIA, you will provide case management, legal research, case-cite verification, blue book citations, and general paralegal support to the Office of General Counsel. You will support legal issues relating to foreign intelligence, counterintelligence activities, and both civil and criminal litigation.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Broad range of experience in the legal profession as a working paralegal
    • Legal research skills with proficiency in Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, and PACER
    • Ability to research, analyze, and organize effectively
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA , including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Paralegal certificates or degree from an ABA-approved school
    • At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
