    Primary Purpose

    Connect Opportunity Youth (OY) with training and employment opportunities, provide job readiness training, and ensure participants receive supportive services for successful integration into the workforce.

    Essential Duties

    Employment & Training

    • Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, and educational institutions to secure opportunities for participants;
    • Match participants` skills and interests with appropriate job opportunities, internships, and training programs;
    • Facilitate job readiness workshops, pop-up events, and resource fairs that cover resume writing, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, and other relevant topics.

    Program Development

    • Collaborate with program team members to develop and refine workforce development strategies for youth in underserved communities;
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of employment-related services and make adjustments as needed to enhance program support outcomes;
    • Monitor and document job placement and training follow-ups to assess retention rates and participant satisfaction, providing additional support and guidance as needed.

    Participant Support

    • Conduct intake assessments to identify participant and family needs;
    • Assist participants in navigating and accessing PIDF internal program services and community resources;
    • Provide individual career counseling and planning to assist participants with setting realistic goals with actionable strategies for achieving them;
    • Assist participants in overcoming barriers to training and employment such as lack of transportation, childcare needs, or limited work experience;
    • Maintain detailed records of participant’s progress toward employment goals, including tracking certifications, training completions, and employment outcomes.

    Other Duties

    Other duties as assigned, including participation in community outreach and program promotion activities.

    Work Hours

    • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;
    • Position requires regular and predictable attendance;
    • Some events on evenings or weekends at various times;
    • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program.

    Working Conditions

    • Office and/or partner or program sites;
    • Frequent travel in personal or company vehicle to and from program sites, participant locations, event sites, meeting locations;
    • Must be able to travel throughout the island of Oʻahu on a regular basis;
    • Travel to the neighbor islands and U.S. continent may be required.

    Equipment Use

    Personal vehicle and office equipment such as computers, phones, copier/scanners, etc.

    Physical:

    • Must be able to work at a desk/computer or sit in a vehicle for long periods;
    • Requires lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.

    Communication:

    • Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;
    • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills;
    • Requires the ability to facilitate training and informational sessions in front of large audiences;
    • Must be able to handle and maintain confidentiality.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Services, or a related field;
    • At least two years of experience in workforce development or case management
    • Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily collision per person and $25K in property damage liability.

    Preferred:

    • Experience working with at-risk or justice-involved youth;
    • Knowledge of local labor market trends and employment laws;
    • Knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture and language.
