Job Summary

Under the direction of the Shop Leadership, programs, operates, and performs maintenance on 3 and 5-axis CNC routing equipment; Utilizes AutoCAD and pdf drawings to support program development and collaborates with the Engineering Dept.to prepare and finalize programs; Utilizes CAM software to produce programs and checks completed programs by running simulations or tests; Determines appropriate sequence of operations in a program and monitors for efficient production; Ensures quality and production requirements are met; Teaches and mentors less experienced employees to accomplish tasks and meet assigned goals; Implements key strategies to gain efficiencies and increase quality as directed; Complies with all safety rules, regulations and standards as they apply to the CNC area.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Skills

• Programs, operates, and performs maintenance on 3 and 5 axis CNC routing equipment.
• Programs CNC machines for a variety of part construction and geometry.
• Selects cutting tools, tool paths, cutting speeds and feed rates appropriate for each job.
• Plans machining by analyzing work orders, production paperwork, materials, specifications, dimensions and tolerances.
•  Evaluates programs for machine equipment by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers and offsets and calculating requirements.

Production

• Demonstrates an understanding of production goals and works efficiently to minimize downtime and meet the goals.
• Holds self-accountable for quantifiable results.
• Consistently meets deadlines and production quotas.

Quality / Attention to Detail

• Ensures quality, detects malfunctions, troubleshoots processes, adjusts and reprograms controls as indicated.
•  Inspects materials and end products to ensure quality standards and technical requirements are met.
• Looks for ways to improve quality for assigned area.
•  Exhibits pride in quality and accuracy of work.

Safety

• Complies with preventive maintenance requirements and schedules service calls for issues that are too complex for in house repair.
• Sharpens and replaces worn tools.
• Understands, communicates, and coaches employees on all OSHA and Pioneer safety rules, regulations, and standards.
• Monitors and manages equipment performance and ongoing maintenance.
• Complies with all safety regulations including PPE.
• Works to prevent accidents and unsafe working conditions.

Problem Solving

• Leverages resources and asks questions to better understand problems.
• Troubleshoots and repairs issues with CNC machines to keep them operational.

Job Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CNC experience preferred.
• Experience cutting and fabricating aluminum doors and frames preferred.
• Experience in reading drawings and blueprints.
• Willing to work overtime when necessary to meet production requirements.
• Manufacturing Experience preferred.
• Able to listen and follow directions.
• Works well under the pressure of time constraints and changing expectations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and /or walk for the duration of the scheduled shift (at least 10 hours).
• Ability to periodically work overtime to support the cyclical nature of the business (may entail a shift longer than 10 hours).
• Ability to squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, reach, lift. Must be able to push and pull up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally and over 50 lbs. with a two-person lift.
• Exposure to noise and moderate but varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements in warehouse environments.
