Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Develops policies and procedures to ensure all menus comply with general dietetic standards. Being a Nutrition Director administers and advises food service operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans. Monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. Additionally, Nutrition Director requires a bachelor's degree. May Require Registered Dietitian (RD). Typically reports to senior management. The Nutrition Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Oregon School District is seeking a Director of Nutrition to oversee the meal service for 4000 amazing students. We have 30 employees who work across seven buildings to provide healthy breakfast and lunch meals to students.
Duties include:
- Following DPI and Federal guidelines for K-12 meal service programs
-Scheduling
- Training
- Maintenance of production records
- Food ordering
- Employee evaluations
- Problem solving
- Quality assurance
- Overseeing sanitation/safety and food transportation.
Supervisory experience in food service is strongly preferred. Knowledge of institutional food service equipment is required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience. The position is year-round (260-day contract).
A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field is preferred.
