Position Title: School Nutrition Director
Reports To: Superintendent
This position is officially available on 9/1/2024; a recommendation to hire a candidate may be made to start earlier than 9/1/2024.
Primary Function: To organize and direct the School Nutrition Program to provide quality foodservice in a cost effective manner.
Requirements:
Educational Level: Masters Degree.
Certification/Licensing: Georgia certification, SCHOOL NUTRITION DIRECTOR (P-12) [FLD729] please see below for certification requirements if not certified by the professional standards commission.
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, administrative, supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
Salary: GA Certified Salary Schedule, 12 month, Director’s Responsibility Supplement

The School Nutrition Director certificate allows individuals to serve as School Nutrition Director in grades P-12.
Qualifications for a Standard Professional certificate include:
Completion of a School Nutrition Director certification approved program at the master’s degree level or higher.
An applicant may qualify for a Provisional certificate in School Nutrition Director if he/she does not hold a Georgia educator certificate and meets the following requirements:
A bachelor’s degree or higher from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution;
Employment by a Georgia LUA.
A Georgia LUA may request a Non-Renewable Professional certificate if the educator meets one of the following options:
Holding a valid, professional GA certificate in any field at a level 4 or higher and is assigned out-of-field. This certificate is issued for 3 years.
Holding an expired GA Clear Renewable or Standard Professional School Nutrition Director certificate but not meeting renewal requirements. This certificate is issued for 1 year.

The program typically requires 19 hours of courses in nutrition, nutrition education, school nutrition program management and research methods. Other requirements include ServSafe® Food Safety and Food Allergen Certifications and completion of a 500-hour field experience, met via concurrent employment. A Master's degree in a closely related field from a GaPSC-approved accredited institution is also required before being recommended for certification.

27.Controls the procurement of all SNP food, supplies, equipment and services to ensure compliance with SNP standards, budget guidelines, and federal and district purchasing policy.
28.Directs SNP staff development, including training for management, assistants, managers, and cashiers.
29.Interprets program regulations to system level administrators, SNP staff, principals and school communities.
30.Establishes and communicates SNP policies/procedures to ensure program compliance with Board Policies, county/state/federal laws and regulations through annual updates to SNP managers/cashiers manuals.
31.Maintains SNP records and reports following local, site and federal regulations.
32.Assists in the planning and design of new school kitchens and cafeterias.
33.Formulates and analyzes data on existing kitchens to ensure effective use of District funds for facility renovation and replacement of equipment.
34.Plans and implements SNP automation in collaboration with district technology staff.
