Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of patient's medical type such as psychiatric, oncology or obstetrics. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice. Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     Responsibilities

    • Assesses patients and/or populations; develops, implements and evaluates plans of care; clearly documents and communicates information both in written and verbal forms.
    • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established guidelines and standards as necessary for the care of the patient
    • Utilizing evidence based practice, serves as a clinical expert for policies, procedures, documentation, and skills.
    • Works with patients and families on patient's goals of care
    • helps with managing pain and symptoms related to palliative care for patients
    • Assists in the education, training and development of new and existing staff members.
    • Engages in the community of the work unit by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, engages in Quality Improvement.
    • Leverages technology and informatics to optimize healthcare outcomes.
    • Commits to continued professional development of self and others.
    • Contributes to the division and/or specialty goals and the Hospital Strategic Plan.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Master of Science degree or equivalent provision

     

    LICENSURE: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Ohio

     

    CERTIFICATIONS: Maintains national certification as APRN in the appropriate population foci for the position, or PA

     

    MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSNote frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit. Sitting Talking on phone/in person Typing on a keyboard Standing/walking
