Position Description:

VPC is seeking candidates for an Urban/Community Planner position.

You will be Responsible for:

• Drafting, editing and updating various local comprehensive, transportation, strategic, or community plans for the client.
• Facilitating stakeholder meetings, task force meetings, public meetings, and technical advisory groups for clients/communities.
• Gather, analyze, and present data in the form of written, graphic, or oral reports for use before commissions and public hearings and prepare statistics and other information for general distribution.
• Provide outreach assistance to ensure the clients’ mission and functional roles and responsibilities are effectively and efficiently presented to affected communities and stakeholders.
• Manage and produce materials for various workgroups, including meeting agendas, invitations, meeting notes, surveys, email distribution lists, contact information, etc.
• Assist with development of social media and marketing materials, including blog posts, flyers/brochures, social media posts, project one-pagers, and graphics.
• Assist with development project proposals including writing, proposal team coordination, and document assembly.
• Maintain organization of files, documents, and other outreach media resources and ensuring all records are maintained to support the project and plan development process in accordance with the approved file management regulations or systems.

Requirements:

• Excellent writing and communications skills. Those without extensive writing skills need not apply.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint, advanced skills with Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF editing) products.
• Proficiency in various communications platforms (Teams, Google Meet, Zoom)
• High degree of attention to detail.
• Ability to conduct a comprehensive QA/QC review of all final products to identify errors in language, grammar, spelling, formatting, consistency, and content accuracy.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure and with deadlines.

Education: A minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited university, preferably in emergency management, environmental planning/policy, public policy, or regional planning field.

General Experience: A minimum of 4 years experience in supporting community/regional planning, stakeholder engagement, and other traditional planning efforts.

Location: This is a remote, 40 hours a week position. Successful applicants will be located in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan Area, and be willing to travel to client sites, as needed.

Employment Classification:

This is a full-time position and includes compensation that is competitive in the private market. Employment with VPC is at-will, the employee and VPC each have the right to terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
