The Outside Operations Manager is to supervise the activities of the outside operations staff working in the staging area, golf car facilities as well as course advisers and starters. This individual is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating the performance of the team and to ensure the highest possible level of service in the outside operations areas.QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Basic knowledge of outside operations which would be acquired through one to two years previous experience in outside operations or similar position
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Assist PGA TOUR players, members and guests with their golfing needs, ensuring that every step of their golf experience at the club runs as smoothly and is as enjoyable as possible
- Recruit, hire, train, and schedule the performance of the outside operations team. Evaluate employee’s productivity and efficiency. Handle employee complaints, grievances and disciplinary actions in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Recommends employees for eligible promotion or termination
- Ensure that the operation is operated in a safe and secure manner
- Supervise staff and make sure that every member and guest is greeted and assisted as they arrive and leave the club. Train staff to positively promote and provide the service excellence standards of the TPC
- Supervise staff and make sure that all guests are assisted with miscellaneous information that may help them in playing the course (e.g., yardage markers on sprinkler heads are measured to the middle of the green)
- Supervise staff to ensure that all golf cars are impeccably cleaned, properly stocked with score cards, pencils, towels etc., and that the cars are maintained as scheduled and are mechanically sound. Conduct minor preventative maintenance on golf cars and maintain the appropriate records for their maintenance. Routinely inspect golf car batteries and battery chargers to ensure that they are in proper working order
- Confirm that the practice facility is continually serviced and maintained. Routinely schedules employees to mechanically pick the practice facility to clear it of practice balls. Ensures that the practice tee, target greens, putting greens, and chipping greens appropriately set up before play begins. Ensures clean, orderly appearance of the staging area and facilities throughout the day. Ensures adequate supply and cleanliness of range balls. Ensures that the practice facility golf balls are in outstanding condition by maintaining an ongoing culling program
- Keep outside operations staff appraised of the tee time reservation sheet so that the staff is aware of the play time for players who have golf club stored. Ensure that the staff has pulled golf clubs and placed them on a clean golf car when the member or guest arrives for play. Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the bag room and car related areas
- Maintain an up to date schedule of all golf clubs that are being stored at the club. Provide updated list to the Golf Shop so that they can record storage charges
- Monitor the pace of play. Ensure that players are made aware of the rules and any special or daily play conditions/restrictions on the course. Communicate information clearly and in a pleasant and professional manner
- Maintain responsibility and accountability for all tools and supply inventory for both car maintenance and club repair area. Assist with car repair and ensure that accurate car repair records are maintained
- Maintain inventory and accountability for towels, pencils, tees, scorecards
- Communicate emergency and safety information to Members and Guests in a calm and professional manner when alarm sounds
- Verify accuracy of sales tickets as it relates to services. Be knowledgeable of pricing for greens and car fees, practice fees and other miscellaneous charges and keep staff aware of pricing structures
- Communicate by two-way radio controlling start of play, verifying that starting times remain on schedule
- Maintain procedures for opening and closing and securing of all storage areas
- Assist members and guests with golf equipment as they depart from the club. Ensure that all golf clubs are cleaned by a staff member and that a staff member carries the golf clubs to and places golf clubs in the Member's vehicle
- Supervise club repair services, promotions, and inventory and is responsible for training interns as it related to available club repair services (where applicable)
- Perform minor repairs to golf clubs. (i.e., replace grips, rewhip shaft, replace shaft and/or realign lie & loft of golf club.)
- Work closely with the Golf Shop staff on all golf related activities
- Special projects or other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Position is very active and requires lifting, pulling or pushing up to or over 25 pounds, moving and/or lift items with awkward weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
