Automates routine tasks using scripting or basic programs. Advises on budget expenditures to ensure required tools and equipment are procured and maintained. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or it. Typically reports to a director. The Network Operations Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Operations Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Targa is hiring an experienced Network Operations Analyst. This is a great opportunity for a Cisco networking expert to travel throughout Texas and Louisiana implementing, upgrading and maintaining LAN/WAN technology for a Fortune 500 energy company based in Houston, TX. While the position is based in Mont Belvieu, this position is assigned an SUV, and spends 80% of the time working in production facilities with state-of-the-art technologies. The Analyst will perform network design, installation and configuration, testing and Tier 2 -3 level troubleshooting of a robust LAN/WAN infrastructure. This position will be provided with a company vehicle.

    JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Plans, updates, and oversees all network activities within his or her areas of responsibility according to the laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures. Special emphasis must be placed on health, safety, and the environment.
    • When necessary, participate in phone conferences, in person meetings, validation, and proposal meetings representing customer care. The emphasis is always on showing value, capability, and professionalism.
    • Respond to any emergency issues that may arise and in some cases be smart hard for other groups.
    • Use company vehicles to travel to different locations in the L&T to manage WAN/LAN infrastructure.
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 80% of the time.
    • Must be comfortable working in a plant environment.
    • Implementation and design of local and wide area network infrastructure to support Targa operations.
    • Strong working knowledge of Cisco infrastructure and Firewalls
    • Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls is a plus.
    • Maintain a robust, detailed understanding of LAN/WAN topologies utilizing OSPF, BGP, Network Address Translation (NAT/PAT), and Virtual Private Networks (VPN).
    • Interface with, lead, and direct telecom vendors as needed to complete tasks and projects on time and budget.
    • Participate in network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware and software and integration testing.
    • Serve as a liaison between the business and technical support staff when and as needed.
    • Lead job assignments without direct supervision.
    • Excellent customer interface skills
    • Work closely with management to prioritize business goals and information needs.
    • Mentor and share expertise with junior members of the Network team.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related degrees or related years of experience.
    • Minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience maintaining local and wide area network infrastructure.
    • Familiar with securing Industrial Control Systems as defined by NIST SP800-82 Rev.2
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically, over a large geographical area, up to 80% of the time.
    • Strong understanding of information security concepts and best practices for network equipment.
    • Robust understanding of firewall operation, policy development and deployment.
    • Robust understanding of common network routing and switching protocols.
    • Ability to conceptualize and assimilate data and present proposals in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
    • Ability to ask clarifying/probing questions of business customers.
    • Ability to adapt effectively to new and changing environments.
    • Eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
    • Regular and reliable attendance.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current certifications preferred – CCNP and/or PCNSE.
    • Experience with Aruba Clear Pass and related Aruba Wireless Infrastructure technologies.
    • Current experience in supporting Palo Alto firewalls and familiarity with management via Panorama.
    • Prior experience in the Oil and Gas industry a plus.
    • Working experience with SolarWinds and Service Now
    • Familiarity with well-defined change management processes and procedure.
    • Self-starter disposition with a positive “can do” attitude.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Driven, self-starter with can-do attitude who constantly works to provide great service.
