    Description

    The Network Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining and monitoring the operation of the organization's local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). Troubleshoot network and general connectivity problems as directed from the Network Manager. Evaluate, recommend, and install patches, updates and operating system hotfixes as needed. Share information and problem status with stakeholders inside IT Services and throughout Jefferson County. Evaluate and recommend solutions for optimizing network performance and reliability to senior staff. Monitor network activity for anomalies. Configure and troubleshoot wireless LAN. Work with Cisco and Meraki networking equipment. Configure Cisco VOIP environment. Troubleshoot WAN network connectivity issues and coordinate vendor support and response.

    Schedule : This position follows a flexible, hybrid work model, with remote and in-office work availability. The ideal candidate must have the flexibility to come into the office on Wednesdays and other designated times due to business needs.

    Compensation

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $87,422.91- $100,000.00 USD Annual

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

    Essential Duties

    • Install, maintain and monitor the operation of the organization's local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). Determine system configurations, maintenance schedules and monitoring tools and procedures.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/fix network hardware and software related problems. Determine root causes of simple to moderately complex issues and take effective actions for resolution.
    • Implement LAN policies and standards and ensure adherence to security procedures.
    • Evaluate vendor products in hardware, software and telecommunications equipment. Recommend purchases consistent with the organization's short- and long-term objectives. Create evaluation criteria, evaluate products against those criteria and make recommendations to management in alignment with established network strategic and tactical plans.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimal Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and;
    • 1 year of work-related experience.
    • Or an equivalent combination of years of experience and education completed.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

    • Proficiency in network hardware such as routers, switches, access points and firewalls.
    • Strong understanding of network concepts and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Radius, VLANs, and VPNs.
    • Hands-on experience in network administration on network devices including Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco and Meraki Switches, Meraki Access Points, and UPS.
    • Experience with VoIP systems, such as Cisco CUCM and/or Webex Calling.
    • Experience with Layer 1 networking, including network cabling and troubleshooting.
    • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex network issues.
    • Ability to establish a working relationship with vendors.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
    • Strong attention to detail, ensuring configurations and changes are made accurately to prevent network issues.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
    • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network , Cisco Meraki Solution Specialist, CCNA, CCNP are a plus.
    • Commitment to staying updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.
    • Ability to lift heavy infrastructure equipment up to 40lbs.

    Additional Job Information

    • Please note that an on-call rotation is required for this position.
    • Offer of employment contingent upon successful completion of criminal history, motor vehicle report, education verification, and/or references.
    • CJIS Level 4 required upon hire.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
    • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v4 Foundations Certification within 12 months of hire.
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification within 12 months of hire.
