Mortgage Credit Analyst assesses the risk and creditworthiness of loan applicants and recommends loan approval, terms, or application denial. Gathers necessary credit, income, and tax information to conduct financial assessments. Being a Mortgage Credit Analyst reviews and verifies property appraisals, collateral value, and key indicators such as debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios. Prepares a detailed credit analysis and summary using underwriting guidelines, risk assessment frameworks, and following applicable regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mortgage Credit Analyst may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mortgage Credit Analyst work is closely managed.     Job Description

    The Commercial Mortgage Credit Analyst supports Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers to manage assigned customer relationships and credit submissions.

    Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Preparing accurate and consistent financial statements spreads, trend analyses, monitoring reports and covenant tests in accordance with bank spreading standards and credit policies. Analyzing financial data and preparing comprehensive written analyses, analyzing client portfolio credit quality and assisting with industry sector reviews, assisting Portfolio Managers in preparing and presenting credit requests for Credit Approval. Maintaining a database that tracks open credit submissions and receipt of customer’s financial reporting requirements.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
    • One to three years of experience in a finance/analytical related role


    Preferred Skills/Experience

    • Background in economics, accounting, and/or finance and ability to apply knowledge in those areas to understanding the overall lending and business environment
    • Effective analytical and technical report writing skills
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently performing financial analyses as a first line of defense and communicate potential issues


    The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

    The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $83,980.00 - $98,800.00 - $108,680.00
