JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary responsibility of the Housekeeping Supervisor is to insure cleanliness of all guest rooms and maintain standards of the hotel(s). Assist and monitor housekeeping associates in their daily tasks and to inform Director of Rooms or General Manager of any discrepancies. This position is also required to assist housekeepers with housekeeping related duties such as lost and found procedures, laundry services, and any other task related to housekeeping. This position requires flexible availability as the shifts/schedule will change based on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
- Establishes, maintains, and trains standards and procedures for cleaning and safe working conditions in the
- housekeeping department.
- Inspecting all vacant rooms daily in assigned areas and spot checking occupied rooms as needed.
- Ensure all required amenities and linens are stocked daily in each guest room according to standards.
- Ensure the guest room is clean according to standards and that required daily cleaning assignments have been completed.
- Monitor all housekeeping employees and their daily activities. Report any issues to Director of Rooms or General manager immediately.
- Complete administrative duties and back of house duties, as needed, including but not limited to, lost and found, laundry functions, cleaning dishes, restocking closets, etc..
- Clean assigned rooms and perform laundry duties as assigned.
- Completes daily housekeeping paperwork in a timely manner.
- Assist in special projects as assigned such as deep cleaning projects, making lists or any other task assigned by management.
- Ensures that any and all storage areas are kept secure at all times.
- Ensures compliance with key control procedures as they relate to the Housekeeping department.
- Develops an inspection program for all-public areas and guestrooms to ensure that proper maintenance and standards are achieved and sustained.
- Develops and maintains a deep cleaning schedule.
- Works closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the success of the hotel’s preventative maintenance program.
- Works to ensure high scores for cleanliness and other housekeeping related items.
- Reviews guest comments and complaint letters and takes action.
- Helps train all of new housekeepers and laundry attendants.
- Remains positive and helpful when supervising housekeeping employees, always being polite and gracious with requests and/or suggestions for improvement of cleanliness issues.
- Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude towards guests at all times.
- Conducts regular Housekeeping department meetings.
- Maintains sufficient supplies and materials for department operations, while maintaining inventory levels and cost-control.
- Reports immediately any and all unusual activity, behavior, and appearances to the Director of Rooms or General
- Manager. Assists Management with any and all internal investigations.
- Inventories all guestrooms, housekeeping closets, or other areas including the housekeeping office and laundry room for furniture, linens, literature, accessories, supplies, and equipment, and/or any other items. This needs to be completed on a monthly basis.
- Assists other department managers in the solution of guest-related improvements as they pertain to the house- keeping department.
- Communicates with the other department heads to provide the necessary information flow for the smooth operation of the hotel.
- Report all accidents and incidents to management immediately.
- Any other tasks assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Working knowledge of applicable sanitation standards.
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different floors of the hotel on a timely basis.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- High school or equivalent education preferred.
- Prior hotel housekeeping experience is strongly preferred.
- Licenses or Certificates Not Applicable.
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Inn standards.
