Metallurgical Engineer designs and initiates processes for the manufacturing of metals from ores and for the operation of the related production equipment. Performs analysis and tests to aid in the development of new and improved metals and alloys as well as their applications to various products. Being a Metallurgical Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Metallurgical Engineer work is closely managed.     What you will be doing:

    • Defining metallurgical requirements for projects to be cast
    • Troubleshoot problems with castings
    • Provide technical support to both external and internal customers
    • Lead or assist with continuous process improvements


    Requirements

    What they are looking for:

    • BS Metallurgical or Materials Engineering
    • 5 years prior hands-on experience working with casting metallurgy
    • Must be a team player who can work with all levels of staff
    • Due to the defense work the company does, you must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Experience with induction furnace melting, arc melting, AOD refining is very helpful
    • The more knowledge you have about the alloys, especially using copper the better
    • Six-Sigma / Lean Manufacturing practices is also very helpful
