Fort Lauderdale United FC (FTL UTD) is a dynamic and rapidly growing soccer club competing in the USL Super League and will feature in the league's inaugural 2024 season. The club is set to play its home matches at a brand new soccer-specific stadium Nova Southeastern University, in Davie, Florida, formerly home to the Miami Dolphins training facility.
Position Overview:
FTL UTD is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Merchandise Buyer to join our team. The Merchandise Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing a wide range of products for our merchandise department. This individual will play a crucial role in curating merchandise that reflects the FTL UTD brand, appeals to our diverse fan base, and drives sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Selection and Purchasing:
- Identify and select a variety of products that align with the FTL UTD brand and appeal to our fans.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices, terms, and quality for merchandise.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of merchandise.
Market Research and Trend Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and popular products within the sports and retail industries.
- Analyze sales data and customer feedback to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, and industry events to stay updated on new products and trends.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability.
- Collaborate with the inventory team to forecast demand and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize loss and maximize efficiency.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Evaluate supplier performance and seek opportunities for new supplier partnerships.
- Resolve any issues related to product quality, delivery, or pricing.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for merchandise purchases.
- Monitor and control spending to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Provide regular reports on purchasing activities and budget performance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a buyer or in a similar purchasing role, preferably within the sports or retail industry.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for sports and knowledge of the soccer industry is a plus.
