Merchandise Assistant
Job Summary: The Merchandise Assistant is responsible for the day to day administrative functions within the buying office and to provide support to the buying staff.
Requirements
Maintain appointment calendars (in buyer’s absence)
Answer telephone calls; take messages and return calls in buyer’s absence
Prepare store memos
Return samples to vendors/ companies
Enter purchase order information into computer system
Assign SKU# to all styles
Communicate with stores and vendors on defective merchandise to be returned
Print out weekly buying reports
Email information to stores and vendors
Distribute mail and reports
Special letters
Compile all weekly and monthly inventories
Set up forms
Approve transfers
Cooperate with management and other buying staff associates
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications: Computer skills (Word, Excel, AS400); experience with office equipment (calculator, etc.); good phone etiquette; high school education
