Understands medical terminology and the use of transcription software and equipment. Being a Medical Records Transcriptionist requires a high school diploma. May require Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Additionally, Medical Records Transcriptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Transcriptionist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES : Responsible for providing professional support to the Director of Information Support Services.
Responsible for performing complex transcription and document structure for all documents and reports that are included in the medical records.
Provides coverage for Admissions Office and Switchboard Operator as needed. Performs other duties assigned.
This position is assigned to Western State Hospital
Reviews, compiles, and prepares operational records and reports for Medical Records and Admissions Office.
Assist physician with the admission process. Interacts with staff from other facilities and with legal authorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION :
Must be High School Graduate.
One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
