Medical Records Transcription Supervisor supervises daily activities of the medical transcription department to optimize productivity. Assigns, schedules and oversees the work of the transcription area of the department. Being a Medical Records Transcription Supervisor ensures that physician's dictations are completed correctly and promptly. May perform transcriptions as needed. Additionally, Medical Records Transcription Supervisor may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT). The Medical Records Transcription Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. We are looking for a Records Supervisor.
The purpose of this classification is to perform supervisory/records maintenance work in support of the County jail and to supervise records clerks in the performance of clerical work functions associated with processing/maintaining documentation and records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; maintains an awareness of new equipment, procedures, trends and advances in the profession; participates in continuing education activities; attends meetings, workshops, training and seminars as appropriate.
Trains staff in records maintenance operations. - Operates national (NCIC) and state (GCIC) law enforcement computer systems to identify, retrieve, and/or update criminal information (e.g., warrants, license plates, driver's license records, stolen property, missing/wanted persons, criminal histories, etc.).
- Obtains/provides information as requested.
- Initiates/retrieves computerized messages to/from state and national agencies.
- Provides information and assistance related to inmates; responds to routine questions, complaints or requests for service; initiates problem resolution.
- Makes fingerprinting records for inmates, public, schools, nurses, employment agencies or others as requested; processes fingerprint cards; forwards as appropriate.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in records maintenance, customer service, office management or related field.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess and maintain certification as a Notary Public and Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Terminal Operator.
