Medical Records Manager manages medical record-keeping operations and healthcare information management to ensure secure, accurate, and reliable patient information management that complies with data and privacy regulations. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure effective and compliant record management, makes suggestions for process improvements. Being a Medical Records Manager implements digital technologies and tools to gain efficiencies, facilitate record retrieval, and ensure secure storage. Provides training for medical records staff and information resources to end-users. Additionally, Medical Records Manager coordinates with clinical and technical professionals to maintain robust records management systems and manage data for analysis and reporting. May require a bachelor's degree. May require Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Medical Records Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Medical Records Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Role Description

    This is a full-time remote role as a Medical Records Specialist at Lexa Records. As a Medical Records Specialist, you will be responsible for accessing and retrieving medical records, while ensuring their accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations. You will handle requests for medical record retrieval, review, and disclosure, maintaining proper documentation throughout the process. Additionally, you will collaborate with healthcare providers and internal teams to address any inquiries or concerns related to medical records management. You will be trained on use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other relevant software.


    Daily responsibilities may include:

    • Accessing client health systems to retrieve records
    • Reviewing records and notes for completion and accuracy
    • Completing mandatory data fields for records processing
    • Compiling records and following procedures to securely send records
    • Teaming with other specialists and supervisors to complete projects
    • Reprocessing orders with missing information as needed
    • Staying up to date with the latest company policies and completing trainings
    • Adhering to HIPAA, Federal, and State regulations
    • Maintaining a secure remote working environment

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Good typing skills at least 40WPM
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to maintain data confidentiality and security at all times
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities
    • Ability to work from home
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of medical record formats and documentation is a plus
