Medical Records Manager manages medical record-keeping operations and healthcare information management to ensure secure, accurate, and reliable patient information management that complies with data and privacy regulations.   • Schedule: Full time - 36 hours/week or greater Shift: First Shift (Days - Less than 12 hours per shift) (United States of America) Weekly Work Schedule: M-F 8:00-4:30 Job Information Exemption Status: Exempt A Brief Overview Position responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management Department (HIM) for both hospital and clinic operations as they relate to activities for record processing and completion. Education Qualifications Associate's Degree Health Information Management or related healthcare field. Required Experience Qualifications 3 years Health Information Management or related healthcare field experience. Required Experience with EPIC (EMR) Functionality. Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AHIMA Preferred or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA Preferred What you will do Ensures all medical records, are prepped, scanned, analyzed, abstracted and indexed appropriately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system for the assignment of deficiencies per departmental policies and/or other medical record requirements. Ensures all inpatient and outpatient discharges are scanned into the department scanning software application within 24 hours of discharge and all clinic documents scanned within 4 days. Manages staff and workflows to ensure these deadlines are met. Performs quality assurance checks and continually evaluates and monitors the workflow processes within the department and actively working with Director to make suggestions and improvements as appropriate. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines are critical to the success of the incumbent in this position, as well as maintaining steady communication with departmental/hospital leadership Ensures that the MPI for the healthcare system maintains a high level of data integrity, working towards goal of enterprise wide MPI and appropriate maintenance. Assists providers with the development of their customized menus for electronic record completion as well as assisting Clinic Staff, HIM staff, and others as appropriate. Understanding of medical record regulatory rules and regulations and applying to HIM Department as appropriate in collaboration with HIM Director. Manages development of HIM work flow requests from external sources, as well as maintains work flow processes internal to the department managing the staff performing these tasks. Responsible for managing the operations of and maintenance of scanning equipment on a daily basis as well as any and all other devices as applicable. Manages the function related to queuing up chart review requests for internal and external request sources within the software. Performs and completes monthly quality checks for accuracy with prepping, scanning/indexing and analysis in conjunction with department assistant or other HIM staff as appropriate. Manages the transfer of paper records to off-site storage according to departmental policies. Works in collaboration with HIM Director for budgetary items/planning as well as staffing when appropriate. Fulfillment of other duties as assigned by department director or administrative leadership may also be required. Works in collaboration with HIM Director to ensure all departmental policies and procedures are maintained and reflective of departmental workflows and processes. Works in collaboration with the leadership team of the HIM Department to adhere to SVH Tenets and Strategic Goals and Initiatives.
