Job Summary: The Media Education & Youth Engagement Manager is a dynamic, resourceful and strategic leader responsible for managing and spearheading MCM’s Digital Futures Institute initiatives, including youth training, education, and programming. The Digital Futures Institute at Montgomery Community Media stands at the forefront of integrating racial equity and social justice into the heart of digital storytelling and media production. Under the guidance of the ECE Director, the manager will design, implement, and evaluate youth programs that align with MCM’s mission. This role demands a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. This job is located at the Silver Spring Media lab, MCM’s satellite location. This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate program activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Futures Institute Program Management:
Oversee the Digital Futures Institute programs, including the BIPOC and LGBTQIA Social Impact Fellowship Program ensuring they meet MCM objectives and support the professional development of participants.
Manage youth programs administrative processes, including recruitment and onboarding.
Oversee content projects, providing mentorship and guidance.
Design and implement the youth programs curriculum.
Coordinate projects with Digital Futures Institute participants to support production and content creation needs; manage schedules, deliverables, communications, etc.
Liaise with internal teams.
Develop and manage a detailed timelines for all youth program cohorts, including presentations and community screenings; ensuring all milestones are met.
Assess the program’s effectiveness and suggest improvements based on feedback and evaluations.
Program Design and Implementation:
Design MCM’s Digital Futures Institute youth training and educational materials that support MCM’s mission.
Organize training sessions for various stakeholders, including staff, partners, parents, and community members.
Analyze and optimize administrative workflows to enhance program efficiency.
Maintain accurate databases of program participants, activities, and outcomes.
Prepare reports and presentations for the ECE Director and other stakeholders.
Communication and Outreach:
Serve as the primary contact for program-related inquiries from staff, trainees, and external partners.
Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote program goals and activities.
Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to promote program initiatives through various media channels.
Strategic Planning and Evaluation:
Conduct long-range planning to ensure the sustainability and growth of education and training programs.
Evaluate program impact and outcomes, using data to inform future planning and development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media studies, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably in education, public relations, or community engagement.
Demonstrated ability to implement educational programs.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in database management and administrative software.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Experience in long-range planning and strategic development.
Passion for media literacy, community storytelling, and/or journalism
