Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Summary

    This full-time (8:00 am-4:30 pm) position performs necessary tasks in storing and maintaining equipment and medical supplies utilized throughout the Prairie Lakes Healthcare System.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Maintains par-level systems; controlling, issuing, and delivering medical/surgical supplies and equipment to assigned supply areas.
    • Maintains appropriate level of supplies on hand in central supply.
    • Responsible for order entry, maintenance, and computer entry.
    • Process invoices, and credit documents, and verifies price discrepancies and backorders.
    • Stores freight on shelves and maintains neatness and orderliness in the storeroom.
    • Assures availability and integrity of supplies through proper storage, rotation, and expiration date check processes.
    • Assists with duties such as typing, filing, data entry, record keeping, and answering telephones.
    • Picks up mail from the Post Office, sorts in proper mailboxes, and maintains mail bin organization.
    • Transports medical/surgical supplies and correspondence between hospitals, clinics, and approved destinations adhering to schedule.
    • Compares identifying information of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
    • Receives incoming shipments, inspects for damage, and item discrepancies, and corresponds to rectify issues.
    • Maintains appropriate inventory of shipping supplies, proficient in UPS, FedEx, and USPS procedures.
    • Routes incoming products to appropriate departments.
    • Enters receiving, pricing, and adjustments, into a computer system to assure accuracy of inventory and item profile.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical background helpful.

    A valid South Dakota driver's license is required.
