Role and Responsibilities:
Manages and directs the purchasing of all goods and materials with an emphasis on ensuring each medical facility is properly stocked with the right products and equipment. Responsible for sourcing, negotiation, contract management, supplier relationships, and purchasing team leadership.
Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods. Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory. Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing month-end and year-end physical inventory.
Job Duties
- Surveying the market for improved pricing or quality
- Identifying potential suppliers
- Creating an approved list of vendors
- Requesting proposals and evaluating quotations
- Selecting the right supplier and negotiating effectively
- Receiving goods and performing quality checks
- Developing and managing contracts
- Obtaining invoice approvals and fulfilling payment terms
- Developing purchasing strategies
- Managing the team within the department 2 team members
- Tracking metrics
- Managing vendors
- Forecasting market trends in the areas we are specializing in (functional medicine supplements and laboratory testing)
- Ensuring clear requirements documentation for all supplement manufacturing and internal distribution including pricing
- Analyzing costs for all supplies, private label supplements and office supplies
- Mitigating risks on all areas of the supply chain
- Determining optimal delivery quantities and timings of ordering
- Developing a new inventory system with maintenance checks tying to sales
- Optimizing our online sales working with marketing to optimize online store and sales tracking metrics
- Growing our wholesale accounts for private label supplements and products
- Planning and overseeing the work of buyers and purchasing groups
- Hiring and training of new staff
- Developing the organizations procurement rules and regulations
- Establishing guidelines on how often the company gets quotes for items, number of bids to accept and which vendors to consider
- Evaluating quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services
Qualifications
Experience
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools
- Interpersonal skills such as teamwork, good listening skills, leadership skills
- Negotiation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage time and highly organized
- Computer and program proficient
Education and Training Requirements
- Should have at least five years of experience in a relevant area
- To be hired in this position a candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in business, which should include principles of management, business law for commercial transactions, marketing management and strategic management. Degrees in finance and supply chain are relevant as well
