Mainframe Programmer reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale mainframe computer system. Maintains and develops online and batch application programs. Being a Mainframe Programmer develops and implements a disaster recovery plan. Works with project members to develop specifications, diagrams and flowcharts. Additionally, Mainframe Programmer may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Mainframe Programmer works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. To be a Mainframe Programmer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Our client, the largest customer-owned health insurer in the nation is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join their team as an Entry Level Mainframe Engineer.
As an Entry Level Mainframe Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, development, and operation of our mainframe systems. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and IT professionals to ensure the stability, performance, and security of our mainframe environments.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree and 2 years Information Technology experience OR Technical Certification and/or College Courses and 4 year Information Technology experience OR 6 years Information Technology experience.
- Experience in traditional app languages ( COBOL / CICS).
- Experience in application / product feature design.
- Experience in application configuration.
- SDLC Methodology (Agile / Scrum / Jira).
- System performance management.
- Systems change / configuration management.
- Business requirements management.
- Problem solving /analytical thinking.
- Creative thinking.
- Ability to execute.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
* Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

NOTE: This position is based in Helena, Montana, and requires on-site work three days a week. ~ relocation will not be offered.
