Machine Shop Production Supervisor jobs in Illinois

Summary:

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of metalworking machines to shape castings and forgings or products by removing excess material by performing the following duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Computes amounts of time required for operations, based on production schedules.
• Inspect and measure metal products for conformance to standards.
• Direct workers in inspecting and quarantining non-conforming products.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders.
• Recommend improvements in production methods and equipment.
• Recommend improvements in production methods and equipment.

• Coordinate with other supervisors and maintenance.
• Set up fixtures and coordinate repairs.
• Perform activities of supervised workers.
• Complete supervisor sections of documentation and evaluations.
• Assist in labelling and verifying material.
• Maintain chain of command for problem resolution.
• Work closely with Quality and support process improvement initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise up to 24 employees.
• Train, plan, assign, and direct work.
• Appraise performance and suggest discipline.
• Address complaints and resolve problems.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.

Qualifications / EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma.
• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have completed geo metric tolerance class.
• Must be able to interpret and incorporate Spc data to help maintain process capability at the machine.
• Must have instant visual recognition of all types of inserts and tooling used in their area.
• Must have knowledge and the ability to use all types of gauging used in their work area.
• Must have an adequate knowledge of the most common "1E" Specifications.
• Must be able to read and interpret most geometric dimensions and tolerances on blueprints.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to set-up and operate all machines under their supervision.
• Must be able to write and edit all programs used in this department.
• Must be able to perform 1E-4060 on all products produced under their supervision.
• Mathematical skills including proportions, percentages, and basic algebra.
• Reasoning ability to understand instructions and deal with problems.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
