Line Cook prepares menu dishes following established recipes and using designated ingredients that meet production and quality standards as part of a cooking line. Follows all portion and presentation specifications and proper preparation methods. Being a Line Cook sets up and stocks workstation with all necessary supplies. Coordinates with other line cooks to ensure meals are delivered consistently and on time. Additionally, Line Cook is responsible for operating and maintaining a single workstation. May prepare sauces or garnishes. Follows all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a sous chef or executive chef. The Line Cook works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.     Hook Line is high octane and high energy, with an all-day marketplace, expansive restaurant and menu driven by fresh catch, vendor partnerships and high-end whimsy reflected through food.

    The Market is here to provide the Seaport with fresh seafood, creatively sourced retail products, and local flavors to bring a taste of Hook Line home.

    This is a one stop shop for hosting the perfect social gathering or dinner party.

    Scope & General Purpose : The Line Cook is committed to the following job components, designed to create a meaningful, growth-oriented position :

    • Recognize that Hook Line success is centered around working with all team members, with varying skill sets and experience level
    • Cultivate meaningful relationships with the management team, staff and Hook Line guests
    • Exude passion for restaurant operations and hospitality as centered in a retail space

    Schedule : Full Time Schedule, across Hook Line’s business hours

    Able to work eight hour shifts, plus ability to stand, sit, squat, or walk for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs

    Management Structure : Reports to the Sous Chefs, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef, and Owner.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare timely and consistent food for service
    • Cook or prepare food for guests as requested, including special requests
    • Knows and complies consistently with our quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
    • Maintains a clean and sanitary work area
    • Uphold all applicable health & sanitation regulations
    • Displays commitment to volume-oriented service with precise execution
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by managers

    Job Requirements

    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in food preparation and cooking
    • Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits
    • Professional communication skills
    • Able to take direction
    • Works well in a team environment
    • Can work quickly, effectively, and stay calm and focused under pressure
    • Able to work ten hour-plus shifts, stand, sit, squat, or walk for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs
    • Able to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
    • Able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
