Land Support Agent Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the support and administration of all land related activities. Prepares special reports as required by management, reviewing all other specialized reports as well as lease and royalty paperwork, coordinating changes or corrections as required. Being a Land Support Agent Supervisor serves as a liaison to the legal department and land purchasing department to ensure that there are no land title or other land related issues. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Land Support Agent Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Land Support Agent Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Land Support Agent Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Land Agent III - $4,690 to $5,713 per month (SR-20, Step D to I)
    Land Agent IV - $5,076 to $6,177 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)

    Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.


    The land agents perform and/or supervise or administer work in the acquisition of lands for public purposes, in the disposition of public lands for approved private and public purposes, and in the inspection and enforcement of terms and conditions of land dispositions and provisions of public land laws. 

    The Land Agent III independently performs selected assignments in transaction preparation of land acquisitions and dispositions, and routine land inspection and enforcement activities; and performs other duties as assigned.

    The Land Agent IV performs the full range of work in the acquisition and disposition of all public  lands of the State including complex and difficult assignments; conducts land management activities; and performs other duties as assigned.

    Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified. 

    To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

    Legal Authorization to Work:
    The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

    Basic Education: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.

    Specialized Experience: Level III requires one and one-half (1-1/2) years, and at the Level IV, two and one-half (2-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience which demonstrated knowledge of Hawaii Land laws, real estate laws and terminology, the real property appraisal process, various types of land titles and legal instruments affecting land transactions; and the ability to gather and analyze land transaction data; prepare reports of findings, including conclusions and recommendations, and meet and deal effectively with others.

    The Land Agent III  independently performs selected assignments in transaction preparation of land acquisitions and dispositions, and routine land inspection and enforcement activities; assists higher level agents by performing certain aspects of complex and/or controversial transactions, inspections and enforcement work, under close supervision for training purpose.

    The Land Agent IV  is fully competent in performing all land acquisition, disposition, inspection and enforcement activities under general supervision; performs the full range of work in the acquisition and disposition of all public lands of the State including complex and difficult assignments; independently conducts studies of all land transactions for preparation of recommendations on requests for use of State lands or for the acquisition of lands for State use. Transactions include leases, easements, fee sales, revocable permits, executive orders, land exchanges, negotiated sales, licenses and acquisition through condemnations and negotiated purchases.

    Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.  The immediate vacancies have this requirement.

    Federal Criminal History Records Check is Required for the immediate vacancy with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
