Intranet Applications Specialist, Sr. - Web develops, implements, and maintains web-based application systems for an organization. Troubleshoots issues with existing or developed systems, and works with the appropriate resources to resolve them. Being an Intranet Applications Specialist, Sr. - Web may require a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field (i.e., HTML, Java, etc.). Additionally, Intranet Applications Specialist, Sr. - Web relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.   • The Application Development Specialist Sr is responsible for programming, implementing, and supporting software technology application products used at GeoVera. Responsible for product service delivery and process management of associated software services (70% of time is spent in programming).

    Essential Functions

    • Program and enhance current services through frequent interaction with Business, System Testing, Quality Assurance, and Network Groups.
    • Effectively implement new technologies for project initiatives through multiple tool expertise to enhance productivity.
    • Advise, apply, install, and maintain complex software enhancements based on the needs of the Business Group.
    • Maintain product and service delivery processes for software products that cross other Enterprise Technology and company areas.
    • Interaction with product and service vendors for current and potential products and services.
    • Diagnose, resolve and/or circumvent systems software problems to minimize the duration of computer outages. Work within the problem and outage resolution processes established and documented.
    • Investigate and research new products and technologies for company implementation. Consider all aspects of product implementation including service-related activities such as internal product support, customer charge-back, product documentation, and customer training and communication.
    • Utilize corporate project methodologies and project management techniques. Adhere to change management, product/service development, and other relevant job function processes.
    • Develop and conduct formal presentations and written documentation to colleagues and management.
    • Provide consultation and technical assistance to Enterprise Technology customers and partners including documentation and training. This requires knowledge of a wide array of products, techniques, and problem-resolution skills.
    • May function as a Technical Lead for others within own area.
    • May perform other related duties and special projects as assigned or requested.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education, training, and experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or equivalent combination of High School Diploma/GED, training and work experience.
    • Five or more years of business or IS experience preferred. Certificates preferred in relevant technical disciplines.

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Property & Casualty insurance knowledge desired.
    • Solid background required in the specific technology the incumbent will support. This includes technical skills in ASP.Net / C# web development, SQL Server, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and/or Web Services. Additional skills preferred may include RPG, COBOL, CL, ILE, Understanding of System i operating system, File Structures, Commands, Websphere MQ, Aldon Lifecycle Manager, System i Utilities.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as direct the work effort of others.
    • Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain positive, cooperative working relationships within the team, division and all other customer contacts.
    • Strong analytical skills and a high achievement and learning orientation required.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines
    • Must be able to accommodate specific job functions outside of the normal workweek.
    • Some travel may be required.
