Intranet Applications Specialist, Sr. - Web develops, implements, and maintains web-based application systems for an organization. Troubleshoots issues with existing or developed systems, and works with the appropriate resources to resolve them. Being an Intranet Applications Specialist, Sr. - Web may require a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field (i.e., HTML, Java, etc.). Additionally, Intranet Applications Specialist, Sr. - Web relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.     POSITION:                           Administrative and Web Content Specialist

     

    DEPARTMENT:                  Planning & Economic Development

     

    ACCOUNTABLE TO:         Planning & Economic Development Director

     

    Primary Objective of Position: Under general supervision, provides organizational and content management services for the County’s website, digital display boards, and other authorized media sites. Supports administrative tasks as needed in all areas of the planning office including: floodplain, planning, miscellaneous board support, environmental health, economic development, and geographical information systems.

     

    Duties include:

    • Optimizing web content from various county departments to promote consistent messaging regarding County business and services.
    • Ensure web content is current and updated on a quarterly basis for all county services.
    • Ability to write, proofread, and edit content provided by numerous departments.
    • Organizational filing for various departments as needed.
    • Digitation program for department files.
    • Administrative assistance with floodplain permit applications, organization, and documentation, including coordination with permitting agencies.
    • Assisting with public outreach efforts for various projects, attending public meetings, taking minutes from board meetings, and other support duties if needed.
    • Assist with researching grant opportunities for various projects within the county.
    • Assistance with grant administration and management for a variety of projects within the county.

     

    JOB CHARACTERISTICS & PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:  

    Nature of Work: Performs administrative and technical support duties which require attention to detail, strong communication skills, timeliness, and technical expertise.  Most work is performed in an office environment; however, individuals may be requested to work offsite and possibly during evening hours, or during emergencies, as well as attend public meetings and/or training or special events, which may require working after normal business hours.  

    Individual will be required to work closely with web content consultants to ensure certifications and software licensures are current and in line with new technology. Identifying proposed money saving options and efficiencies will be encouraged.

     Personal Contacts:   Regular communication with supervisor and employees; daily contact with county staff, the general public, as well as numerous public agencies, and other professionals is required. Communication may be in the form of email, face to face contact, telephone or a public forum.

    Essential Functions:  Work is primarily performed in an office setting involving prolong sitting, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting up to 35#s, and walking and climbing stairs.



    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Knowledge:  This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office platform as well as web-based content computer systems.  Must have a strong background in customer relations.

    Skills:  Collaboration, strong written and verbal communication, documentation, analysis, strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with efficiency. Ability to quickly assimilate and extrapolate information.

    Abilities:  Establish effective working relationships with employees, vendors and the public. Recognize problems, develop recommendations and solutions when needed. 


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Additional training in Microsoft Office
    • Additional certifications or experience demonstrating skills in web content management preferred
    • Additional certifications or experience demonstrating grant administration preferred
