We’re currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Internal Communications Specialist to join our growing team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Do you have a sweet tooth for Communications? As part of the North America Internal Communications programs, and as we expand to add another factory in Rockford, IL, this new role has a focus on tailoring and implementing communication programs and content that specifically maximize reach and engagement with Erlanger and Rockford hourly shop floor employees, meeting their unique needs. Working closely with the Manager of Internal & People Comms, and the HR business partners and senior leaders for hourly employees/Operations, this person will become an expert in learning the hourly workforces’ communication needs and a conduit with the Communications department for hourly comms integration. The role will ensure development of the annual communications calendar, content, plans, and channels, tailored to support hourly employee engagement, retention, and culture building. Examples of the HR and company programs supported by these communications include, but are not limited to general HR/people announcements, Total Rewards/Benefits, learning and development, DEI and culture celebrations, and employer branding/recruitment. Additional responsibilities include:

• Serve as a day-to-day contact with the HRBPs, Ops/SC managers who work with the hourly workforces to understand needs and ensure alignment with PVM internal communication programs and company priorities and guidelines overall.
• Find ways to measure and evaluate hourly employee communications for continuous improvement of our communications efforts and programs tailored to the hourly employees.
• Be the “newsroom” eyes and ears of people and business success stories that come from our manufacturing/Supply Chain areas in Erlanger and Rockford — proactively identify stories and create content that should be become part of our overall PVM N.A. Internal communications and storytelling. Assist the External PR manager with information on stories that have an external component.
• Work with Internal Comms Manager, Comms Director and HR to help establish new comms cadences, approaches, and programs for Rockford hourly employees.
• Assist the Operations teams with decks or content for their regular Ops “townhalls” i.e., Ops Airwaves.
• Create TV screen corporate content like Hump Day newsletter or other culture/HR updates and create/ensure placement of monthly paper Hump Day roundups
• Serve as a backup on emergency communications platform if needed to dispatch urgent employee notifications.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Journalism or HR business.
• 2 years’ experience—can be a combination of corporate internships and post-college entry level roles.
• Demonstrate experience working in a corporate internal communications environment or agency experience with client’s internal communications programs.
• Some knowledge of HR communications is preferred and experience with “shop floor” or hourly workforce communication is desired.
• Strong writer (samples will be requested) and editor with an eye for a story.
• Basic photography and video story telling skills; Canva content creation and video editing; Proficient with MS365 Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Teams.
• Must be highly organized and generally proficient with learning new information, skills or software.
