The Nurse Intake Coordinator performs a variety of duties both clinical and clerical in nature. The coordinator is responsible for the admission process for new patients by ensuring availability of reimbursement for services, identifying the clinical team to deliver care, and scheduling all patient visits within prescribed discipline and visit frequency requirements. This position requires skill in planning, organizing, and coordinating the delivery of patient care by all staff personnel as well as the coordination of day-to-day office activities. Acts as a patient advocate and resource person to give guidance on home health or hospice services and options.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Advanced, fingerprint background checks are required for this position.
Education and/or Experience: If RN, an associate or baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) required. If LPN, graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program.
Healthcare intake, scheduling, and/or billing experience preferred. Home care or hospice experience preferred. Ability to effectively use multiple computer applications. Knowledge and experience with business applications, (i.e., Microsoft Office) is a plus. Able to effectively organize and prioritize tasks and goals; Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain quality, accuracy, and efficiency; Demonstrates critical thinking appropriate to scope of service to assure optimal outcome; Approaches teamwork in a cooperative manner to enhance harmony in the working environment; Responds to customers in a compassionate manner by identifying and exceeding customer expectations; Demonstrates conflict management skills to include ability to resolve issues in a stressful situation; Experience in healthcare intake/scheduling/billing. Highly effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people; Must be a team player willing to accept and promote organizational goals.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current, unencumbered LPN or RN license in the State of Oklahoma or multistate licensure in a party state in compliance with primary residency rules and requirements. American Heart Association BLS required; May have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain. NIHSS preferred. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
