    ABOUT THIS POSITION

    Summary:
    This position reports to the Associate Director of Telecommunications and Instructional Technology and is responsible for integrating, programming, and administration of audio-visual (AV) systems in campus classrooms, conference rooms, meeting rooms, and event venues.  The position is also responsible for assisting faculty and staff with training and support in the use of AV systems and for developing maintenance schedules for classroom systems.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
     
    Design, install, configure, update, and support classroom and meeting room AV systems and equipment. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and programming AV control systems, video matrix switches, video projection and display systems, audio digital-signal-processors, and audio systems to include public address systems.

    This position will be required to work outside of normal business hours occasionally to provide technical support or system integration for classrooms and event systems.

    This position must have good communication and troubleshooting skills.

    Provide AV system training and support for faculty and staff, including the creation of tutorials and end user documentation. The ability to support faculty and staff in visible education settings and in real-time problem solving situations.

    Maintain classroom, meeting room, and event venue AV systems and equipment including Crestron, Extron, Bi-Amp, Panasonic, Sharp-NEC, Shure, Legrand, Crown Audio, and other manufacturers.  Responsibilities include developing procedures and processes to proactively maintain complex classroom AV and control systems, including documenting those procedures and completing work in a functional and timely manner.
    Analyze installed AV equipment and control systems for ease of operation and effectiveness and make recommendations for upgrading or replacing systems and equipment with sustainability cycles.

    Maintain an inventory of smart classroom equipment and prepare replacement schedules and budgets. Help ensure an adequate supply of emergent replacement equipment is maintained.

    Maintain the University’s installation of Crestron Fusion for monitoring and managing classroom AV equipment and for integrating Crestron room scheduling panels with the campus room scheduling platform.

    Assist the Information Technology Department and campus with the design, review, and implementation of new instructional technology systems in classrooms, meeting rooms, and learning environments.

    Coordinate AV system upgrades and changes with academic department heads, faculty, and staff to limit service interruptions and minimize downtime.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:
    Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
    One year of related experience in AV integration and control system programming with a clear understanding of advanced AV systems and integration best practices. 
    Skills in AV control system programming, debugging, and troubleshooting. 

    Preferred Qualifications: 
    Experience with Crestron AV control systems.
    Experience working in a higher education environment.
    Completion or study of Crestron Technical Institute (CTI) Learning Paths for Crestron Technician and Crestron Programmer.
    • Completion of an AVIXA Certified Technical Specialist (CTS) certificate.
    A working knowledge of enterprise level local area network (LAN) components and concepts is desirable along with knowledge of AV over IP principles.
