Installation & Maintenance Technician Director directs the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of switches, cables, and other telecommunications equipment in the field to ensure optimum network usage and quality. Ensures compliance to customer specifications and company requirements. Being an Installation & Maintenance Technician Director leads all functions and ensures they are completed on time and within budget. Oversees the scheduling of installation and maintenance services. Additionally, Installation & Maintenance Technician Director requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Installation & Maintenance Technician Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     $20-$32/hourly 


    Job Purpose

    Set up, adjust, and maintain equipment to facilitate the highest possible production quality


    Job Responsibilities

    • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment.  Plan for and take corrective action when problems occur
    • Review production schedule to organize regular maintenance
    • Ensure machine productivity and quality after repairs, changeovers, and extended down time
    • Assist in clearing machine jams
    • Test equipment to verify proper working order
    • Perform quality checks using gauges, instruments and proper forms.  Check finished product for visual defects
    • Check and inspect assigned equipment during preventative maintenance. Reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action
    • Examine defects and spoilage for possible causes and take appropriate action when possible
    • Analysis of production delays.  Summarize causes on daily production report
    • Direct line operators, packers, and service personnel, such as lift truck operators, in details of daily schedule, standard operating procedures and requirements
    • Notify maintenance supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, if applicable
    • Notify maintenance supervisor of quality issues and supply needs
    • Instruct and/or direct any maintenance trainees assigned


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to read, use and understand gauges, tools and instruments relating to product quality and equipment repair
    • High mental and visual effort required
    • Ability to perform basic math skills including, but not limited to:  Addition, Subtraction, Division, and Multiplication
    • Willingness to work rotating shifts on a continuous seven-day cycle
    • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Ability to effectively use hand tools and trade type tools
    • High sense of urgency
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time
    • Ability to speak and write English fluently   


    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Successful completion of three-year formal training program


    Experience

    • Satisfactory work record, as determined by plant training committee
    • 1-3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
