Information Technology Director directs the implementation and administration of information systems and equipment in accordance with organizational policies and goals. Develops internal procedures and guidelines to diagnose and resolve technical issues across different systems and technologies, including hardware, software, and networks. Being an Information Technology Director analyzes high-level business needs and researches new technologies to identify and select IT hardware and software products to support internal business processes. Evaluates methodologies, processes, and specifications of an organization's IT systems to develop an IT strategy and roadmap and ensure computer equipment, hardware, and software operate in alignment with organizational needs and standards. Additionally, Information Technology Director plans and designs an organization's network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks and monitors network performance. Oversees IT projects through their entire lifecycle to ensure completion is on-time and within budget and provides technical guidance to resolve complex issues. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Information Technology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job Purpose
The Technical Director, Information Technology provides technical and process leadership to support teams, maintains information technology infrastructure, researches and implements strategic technological solutions. The Director, Information Technology builds and maintains a robust infrastructure with scalability, high availability, and security in mind. This role is accountable for vendor management, architecture and engineering, including the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of server, network, storage, and software, and WAN/LAN across the enterprise (on-premise, cloud, co-lo).
This position functions as a technical services escalation contact for IT Support and is accountable for administration, capacity planning, implementing new technology, maintaining existing systems, and IT security. Additionally, participates as a technical resource when needed for major projects. Ensure infrastructure security at all technological tiers and provide guidance and recommendations as needed. Leads in implementing security focused solutions and ensuring compliance for end users and systems as it relates security in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH standards.
