Industrial Hygienist jobs in California

Industrial Hygienist coordinates, plans and conducts programs to educate employees about cleanliness, safety and sanitation in the workplace. Inspects facilities and work areas to prescribes corrective actions to reduce the health risks. Being an Industrial Hygienist provides advice on methods and procedures to reduce occupational health risks. Determines measures to avoid any recurrence of accidents. Additionally, Industrial Hygienist evaluates facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promotes maintenance of a sanitary working environment. Conducts training in environmental compliance and the handling of hazardous materials. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Industrial Hygienist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Who We’re Looking For: A motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and adapts well to change. You should possess excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to customer service and safety.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in a Science-related field.
    • Experience: 2 to 5 years in the industry, with a focus on asbestos, lead, radon, indoor air quality, and mold/moisture inspections. Phase I ESA/II experience is a plus.
    • Skills: Excellent communication, client management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
    • Certifications:
      • Asbestos: Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) required.*
      • Lead: Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician preferred.
      • Additional certifications like CHMM, 40 Hour HAZWOPER, and CIE/CMI are desirable but not required.
    • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and availability for off-hour emergency work.

    *We welcome candidates with initial asbestos AHERA certifications eligible for state certification tests.

     

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Maintain certifications and licenses.
    • Respond to client emergencies as needed.
    • Conduct thorough investigations related to Industrial Hygiene, including indoor air quality, mold/moisture inspections, asbestos surveys, and lead-based paint inspections.
    • Develop remediation plans, report findings, and ensure compliance with industry guidelines.

     

    Secondary Responsibilities:

    • Perform air, surface, and water sampling.
    • Conduct employee noise exposure assessments and monitoring.
    • Execute Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and other environmental hazard evaluations.
