The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for coordinating the hiring process, maintaining HR files, maintaining the HR database, monitoring and tracking required HR documents, coordinating employee benefits, coordinating FMLA process and other daily HR processes.
Three years’ experience in human resources
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred
Extensive computer knowledge
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the following:
Coordination of hiring process
1. Ensures hiring process is completed to include meeting with applicants to complete onboarding process
2. Assists in setting up medical screening appointments, background appointments and explaining pre-hire document requirements
3. Assists in monitoring receipt of pre-employment documents and notifies supervisor when employee is cleared to begin work
4. Coordinates with payroll to ensure set up of new hires
5. Schedules new employee for orientation
6. Sends forms which require completion within first two weeks of employment to supervisor and monitors for return
Maintains HR database and files
1. Sets up and maintains employee files
2. Processes Personnel Action Forms and sends copy to payroll
3. Processes probationary/annual reviews
4. Daily enters new employee and all changes in employee status, e.g., promotion, demotion, transfer, pay changes, etc. into HR database
5. Coordinates termination process
6. Generates computer sorts/lists based on requests for information or for monthly notices to staff, e.g., 3-month/annual performance evaluations, license expirations
7. Tracks receipt of documents requested which are due each month
8. Keeps filing current
9. Responds to unemployment notices by due date and participates in hearings
Coordinates employee benefits
1. Collects benefit enrollment forms from new hires
2. Processes benefit enrollment/change forms
3. Assists employees with problems/questions regarding benefits/entitlement
4. Administers and maintains COBRA notification and continuation process
5. Keeps informed regarding changes in regulations which effect benefits/entitlement
Coordinates FMLA process
1. Laison between third party administrator and employees to ensure employees are aware of current FMLA processes
2. Notifies supervisors when employees are approved for FMLA
3. Keeps informed regarding changes in regulations which effect FMLA
