Histology Technician jobs in South Dakota
Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Being a Histology Technician maintains accurate tissue and slide records. Cleans and maintains instruments and work areas. Additionally, Histology Technician complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires an associate degree in biology, related science, or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnician certification (HT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Clinic of MD offices to include General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Dermatology and Bariatrics/Weight Management
Hours of Operation: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Minimum Experience
Gen Surg: 1 year
Dermatology: 2 years
Will you accept a first-time traveler?
Gen Surg: No
Dermatology: Yes, with appropriate skills
Travelers must live >100 miles away from facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler

Required Certifications
RN: BLS
LPN: BLS
MA: BLS
Histology Tech: BLS, National certification (preferred)
Education Requirements
RN/LPN: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
MA: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
Histology Tech: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
Skills Required
This would be dependent on specialty, a general clinic nurse would be an ideal candidate, unless the need was for a highly specialized area such as dermatology or urology.
RN:/LPN: Basic nursing knowledge
Histology Tech: MOHs cutting experience is a MUST. Cutting, cryostat and lab familiarity.

CNA: 1 per unit
Charge nurse: Yes
Phlebotomy: Clinic has its own lab department

Within department only - APP will make hospital rounds
