As an Underwriter for MotivHealth, you will be responsible for the generation of rate proposals for new business cases for all medical, pharmacy and/or stop loss products sold by MotivHealth. Responsibilities in addition to new business rate proposal generation include evaluation of large claimant impacts, and consultation and interaction with cross functional areas such as Actuarial, Sales, Clinical and Finance. This position also collaborates with Sales and Account Executives, preparing information for groups and brokers, and providing department management with opinions of the financial consequences of existing or proposed insurance arrangements. Written and verbal communication skills along with subject matter expertise are used to support a consultative approach directed at understanding and meeting customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with our sales department to prepare, distribute, respond to questions, and execute proposals for prospects and existing clients.
• Prepare rating and plan design quotes using our underwriting model.
• Ensure proposals are of the highest accuracy and delivered on time.
• Analyze health care data: Evaluate data files and data elements to understand premium, claim, and exposure experience. Evaluate credibility based on population size and prior predictive behavior.
• Identify potential data issues and research solutions.
• Approve financial contract pages for renewing groups.
• Provide feedback with opportunities for improvement in our rating models, processes or client interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or two (2) years related work experience.
• Familiarity with existing health insurance market, industry standards, and historic trends.
• Understanding of health insurance terminology, funding styles, and health savings accounts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Innovator with a strong desire to challenge existing norms related to traditional healthcare and health insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
