Head Nurse - Oncology jobs in Idaho

Head Nurse - Oncology directs nursing service activities for assigned oncology patients. Delegates responsibilities to oncology staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of oncology patient clinical records, and writes reports on oncology staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Oncology maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Oncology requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Oncology manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Oncology typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    Plans, directs and evaluates the overall clinical care and functions. Oversees the activities of the clinical areas and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the clinical team that includes nurses, medical assistants (if applicable), and pharmacy technician(s). Assesses, monitors, and educates all clinical staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Assures compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulations to the assigned areas.
    Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Licensed RN in the state of employment.

    • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in nursing is required.

    • Registered Nurse license.

    • Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) required within 1 year.

    • Current CPR certification.

    • Valid state Driver's License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.

    • Previous Experience:

    • Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare field in a clinic or hospital setting.

    • Three (3) years of management experience preferred.

    • Analysis & Critical Thinking: Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills. Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.

    • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.

    • Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.

    • Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.

    • Self-Management: Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, stress, and professional development. Self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision.

    • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.

    • Leadership and Mentoring: Effectively lead and facilitate group discussions, coach, mentor, motivate, and engage others to align to a common goal. Ability to effectively lead projects from inception through implementation and assessment.

    • Human Resources Management: Effectively hire, coach and support staff develop, as applicable, as well as manage resources, performance and employee relations, and supervise within established policies, procedures and legislation.

    • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

    • Travel: Less than 25%
