Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as Occupational Health Nurse to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will provide and develop occupational nursing services including first aid, emergency and trauma treatment. Operate WIPP medical facility and associated treatment and examination equipment. Exercise specialized judgment and skill in observation, care and counsel of ill and injured employees and visitors. Develop promotional activities of wellness and employee assistance programs. Develop and maintain employee medical records on a confidential basis and computer database of medically related activities. Coordinate in-plant immunization and blood donor programs. Prepare schedules and related promotional materials. Maintain medical supplies and drugs. Contact variety of medical professionals to obtain and exchange employee medical information and cognizance of state of health. Maintain contact with employees to determine return-to-work clearance and notify cognizant management. Schedule and prepare periodic physicals. Schedule and conduct periodic pulmonary function and audiometry testing. Successful candidate will be required to certify in respiratory, hearing and spirometry, breath alcohol testing and drug screen collection. Will develop expertise in case management as defined by OSHA regulations.
