Geologist researches the formation, dissolution, and content of rock layers. Researches the effects of internal pressures, heat, water, pollution, and erosion. Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     • Perform geotechnical investigations and analyses to assess subsurface and site conditions.
    • Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration programs effectively.
    • Perform field and laboratory investigations for geotechnical engineering and geological study projects.
    • Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare technical reports for review by senior geotechnical engineers.
    • Provide direction to technical team during field inspection activities.
    • Interact with customers and team members to complete the assigned projects on-time.
    • Evaluate team performance and determine training needs to meet performance objectives.
    • Perform basic office administration tasks when needed.

    Required Skills :

    • Bachelors of Science in Geotechnical, Geologic, or Civil Engineering or related field.
    • 1-5 years of related work experience within the State of Utah.
    • Proficient in soil mechanics.
    • Able to creatively apply engineering principals to solve new problems.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to work effectively in teams.
    • Wages will depend on experience.
