Title: Operational Geologist Full-Time/Part-Time: Full time FLSA: United States of America (Exempt) Description: JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Geologist collaborates, collects, verifies, and analyzes all operational data, integrates all local and regional geological and geophysical data for the for use in all operational decisions, well planning and lookback tasks. Along with archiving data, maintaining databases, and generating operational maps and reports necessary for past, current, and future projects, the Operations Geologist is also responsible for integration of other related operation data to be used for mapping, modeling and other petro-technical decision making. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary as well as an ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously. RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyze and integrate all well and geologic data necessary for well planning, pre-spud meetings, and as necessary as actively geo-steer wells Plan horizontal wells within a cross-disciplinary team, accounting for geological knowledge of the target reservoir, shallow drilling hazards, land constraints, and regulatory constraints Prepares geological maps, cross-sections, diagrams, charts, and reports concerning the operation or operational data Geo-steer multiple horizontal wells at a time across multiple formations and basins using StarSteer Availability throughout drilling operations to provide geologic interpretation and feedback Communicate with drilling team, surface loggers, and other geology personnel about current geologic interpretations relative to plan Coordinate mud logging, well logging and coring activities as needed Archives and maintains all databases related to the Geosteering operations. Responsible for generation of reports for daily, future, and lookback purposes to assess and operations. Interfaces with Land, Drilling, Reservoir, Completions and Production departments Provides geologic knowledge in structural, stratigraphic, and other geological interpretation to ongoing projects utilizing state of the art software and analysis techniques Implements new technologies in geological modeling and seismic processing Mentorship opportunities Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Geo-steering experience, Advanced Star-Steer Skills required. Highly developed mapping, well log and seismic interpretation preferred Proficiency in Geographix required. Kingdom is preferred. Must have exceptional technical writing and Communication skills Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Must have advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of Five (5) years of applicable experience required Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geoscience from an accredited university required. Work experience as a Operation Geologist, Geoscientist, or Geophysicist demonstrating mapping proficiency and technical interpretation skills Solid understanding of oil field drilling operations and working knowledge of completion and production operations PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The ability to use a computer, tablet or smart phone for extended periods of time Ability to sit for long periods of time WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the company. TRAVEL: Some minor travel could be expected for this position.
