Geologist researches the formation, dissolution, and content of rock layers. Researches the effects of internal pressures, heat, water, pollution, and erosion. Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Provides professional geological and construction management support and expertise on civil works dam project
    • Serves as the organizational subject matter expert regarding national geological standards and practices as related to dam improvements
    • Perform inspections and surveillance of construction work to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract and specifications
    • Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log
    • Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFI)
    • Ensure contractor is adhering to contract and specification requirements
    • Support construction contract modifications
    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor of Science Degree; Geology
    • 5 years of geological experience, Alaska area preferred
    • Experience with large civil works project
    • Knowledge of soils and geological components for construction of barrier wall embankments
    • Familiar with US Army Corps of Engineers’ processes, preferred
    • US Army Corp of Engineering or other federal project experience, preferred
    • Experience with Resident Management System (RMS), preferred
