    Kitsap Mental Health Services is seeking a skilled Plumber/ General Maintenance Worker to maintain our buildings, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring they remain in good operating order and the grounds are kept presentable. This role supports our mission by promoting the highest level of customer satisfaction and confidence to internal and external customers.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Independently perform tasks and repairs efficiently and organized with minimal supervision, completing assignments on time and within budget.
    • Conduct facilities repairs, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, sheetrock, roofing, glazing, locks, landscaping, and minor electrical work as needed.
    • Maintain and repair plumbing systems carrying water, steam, chemicals, and fuel in heating, cooling, lubricating, and other process piping systems.
    • Inspect high-pressure air, steam, water, and gas systems to ascertain malfunctions.
    • Repair or replace plumbing fixtures, test joints, and pipe systems.
    • Troubleshoot and repair commercial and residential equipment and building systems.
    • Perform preventive maintenance, including routine and scheduled service procedures on commercial and residential equipment and building systems.
    • Maintain facility logs and records, including fire logs and other important maintenance and repair paperwork, updated and organized as required by state, county, or local authorities.
    • Conduct vehicle maintenance, including safety inspections, scheduling routine maintenance, and keeping vehicles clean and operating well.
    • Identify, order, and maintain supplies, replacement parts, and tools needed to repair or service all commercial and residential facilities, equipment, and building systems.
    • Utilize proper personal protective equipment and maintain all applicable Material Safety Data Sheets.
    • Provide 24-hour on-call standby services as scheduled.
    • Assist in performing custodial duties when assigned, including hard floor and carpet care.
    • Promptly report any damage, suspicious activity, security risks, or safety hazards to the Facilities Supervisor.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    EXPERIENCE:

    Intermediate (minimum of 2 years of job-related experience)

    Two years of commercial building maintenance experience

    Must have at least two years of verifiable plumbing experience in a residential service and maintenance operation.

    Knowledge of local and national plumbing codes.

    This position requires driving in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    EXPERIENCE: Intermediate (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)

    Experience in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, carpentry.

     

    Performance Requirements:

    KNOWLEDGE:

    • General knowledge in all building trades.

     

    SKILLS:

    • Must be able to work independently and display good organizational skills.

     

    ABILITIES:

    Demonstrated ability to:

    • Understand safety data sheets and safe chemical handling practices. 

     

    Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Maintenance and construction equipment including ATV, backhoe, snowplow, and man lift. 

     

    Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.

     

    Mental/Physical Requirements

    Requires:

    • The ability to function indoors in an office environment and outdoors engaged in physically active work.
    • Ambulatory ability to move to different work locations and bend, stoop, climb, and perform inspections.
    • The ability to wear various protective equipment, work in areas with extreme temperature variation, and work in cramped or uneven spaces.
    • Visual acuity to observe work sites, read written materials, blueprints, plans, and schematics.
    • Auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including projecting voice in noisy work settings.
    • May require the ability to lift from the floor, waist, or overhead objects up to 75 pounds occasionally.
    • Proficient with electronic devices such as; handheld smart phones and computers
